With no more impromptu sunshine days forecast for the foreseeable future, it’s about time we all accepted and welcomed the colder months of the year. Now we’re basking in autumn and its entirety, we can pack away our slip on mules because, it’s officially time for a wintry wardrobe update – to help with a smooth transition from ‘summery to snuggly’.
Let us not be confused, we love warm summer days as much as the next person; fancy pub gardens, festivals and summer night walks? Yes, please. But with the chillier months of the year, comes the festive season, chunky knit scarves and a lot of hot chocolate – decisions, decisions.
Like it or not, the autumn/winter season is upon us. We’ve listed some winter wardrobe tips as well as must have inspiration straight from the A/W19 collections below, just for you (thank us later).
Autumnal pops of colour
One great thing about transitioning from summer to autumn is you can still experiment with colour. Winter need not equal dull, sure black is a staple and is always flattering – just think forest greens, burnt oranges and deep aubergines. Of course you aren’t expected to wear every trend colour at once, unless you want to, that is.
Sometimes all you need is a signature printed trench coat, or a bright pair of statement earrings to compliment that muted tone outfit. Find the perfect autumnal shade for you!
A chunky, knitted jumper is a winter wardrobe essential and a staple piece of clothing if you’re a fan of the casual chic look. Hot on the A/W catwalk for the upcoming season were huge coats, billowing sleeves and long trains, its only right you beat the heat with a chunky sweater underneath. Purple was also a popular colour on the runway, so one well worth looking out for.
From sumptuous woollen threads to cosy Alpaca blends, there’s a comforting material for everyone to stay stylish and dry this autumn.
Trousers can be notoriously hard to buy but with a range of colours styles and designs – really, we’re quite spoilt for choice. Autumn and winter are the times when we can be more experimental with wider legs, thicker material and more daring prints. Good news for all of the flared corduroy fans.
Whatever your size, style or budget; there’s a comfy pair of killer-hemmed trousers out there to suit you and, to protect you against the elements.
Have a bit of fun with your footwear. If you haven’t already started thinking about footwear that won’t let you down this A/W, keep reading. When we’re on the go during poor weather, we want to ensure comfort and style from head to toe. Knee high boots at the ready, ladies. Judging from the trends on the catwalk, platform heels aren’t going anywhere just yet.
Goodbye sandals, hello again shiny sneakers!
